  I have used Ashlar Cobalt, which comes with a 15 days trial, to try to model a building of historic interest. I needed to find CAD software to create a 3D model starting from field data and a point cloud. The most difficult modeling problem was the irregular vaulted ceiling. Furthermore, I needed to produce several planar views and sections. In addition to the challenging requirements, it has been exciting for me to have the chance to learn the software and build the 3D model within the 15 days trial period. I even had the time to create a few renderings of the building! I believe that Cobalt is a very powerful product and I recommend it even for simpler projects. I am looking forward to purchase a full version of it.
