Rhino Assembly, the Assembly Plug-in for Rhino
Rhino Assembly is a powerful tool for assembly design and kinematic simulation with capabilities of mainstream mechanical CAD packages. With Rhino Assembly you can easily position your rigid 3D parts with respect to each other by specifying assembly constraints (fixation, concentricity, coincidence, parallelism, perpendicularity, tangency, rigid sets) and driving dimensions (distance and angle) between their faces and edges.
Rhino Assembly automatically satisfies all constraints and dimensions making a consistent assembly from existing parts. An assembled mechanism can then be animated by varying a parameter of one or several of its driving dimensions. The Assembly Manager panel allows navigation over all assembly constraints and driving dimensions imposed on geometric elements of a designed model.
Here you can see a gallery with numerous assemblies and animations created with Rhino Assembly
Bonzai3D 101: the Best Collection of Tutorials
bonzai3d is a new 3D modeler developed to fill the demand for a quick, easy, simple, yet geometrically robust approach to 3D, based on design industry essentials and designer requests. bonzai3d is aimed at delivering your conceptual design and sketching ideas on the fly while maintaining the option to transform them into accurate and robust models that can be used for construction drawings, smoothly rendered, and manufactured.
This interactive set of tutorials shows all the key features and capabilities of bonzai3d and its outstanding ease of use.
Autodesk Helps Creating 3-Dimensional Online Worlds
Amazing Worlds is a new online platform that is making large scale 3D virtual worlds possible. Traditionally, users must buy and install large computer programs before they can run any online 3-dimensional content. Amazing Worlds now replaces those large and complex software programs with a small, free “thin client.” That is all that users need to gain access to any of the ‘worlds’ hosted on the platform’s fast and secure servers. All this is enabled by the power of Autodesk AutoCAD and 3ds Max.
Dynamite VSP Improves 3ds Max Design
Dynamite VSP is an Autodesk 3ds Max Design based visualization solution developed specifically for the needs of civil engineers, making the visualization process more accessible than ever before. Dynamite VSP allows engineers to achieve stunning results with little or no prior knowledge of 3D visualization techniques. Dynamic links to a range of major civil design applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D mean that Dynamite VSP is uniquely capable of incorporating design changes automatically. This enables visualizations to evolve in tandem with your design, allowing visually informed decisions to be made at all stages of the design process.
This interactive gallery shows various architectural models created with Dynamite VSP.
3ds Max 2010 Architectural Visualization - Advanced to Expert
by 3DATS, Darren Brooker, Michele Bousquet, Markus Boos, Ernest Burden, Leigh van der Byl, Todd Daniele, Gary Davis, Pete Draper, Lukas Dubeda
3DATS
Brimming with tutorials and practical production techniques from dozens of experts in multiple fields of 3D, this book is arguably the finest collection of 3D talent ever assembled under one title. Written for advanced users in any field, but flavored for those in visualization, this book is a collection of 20 independent chapters containing some of the most sophisticated learning material ever written for 3D. The goal is to take readers from an advanced level to an expert level by providing a straight-forward, production-oriented discussion of difficult subject matter not available anywhere else. To create a book of this caliber, 3DATS recruited a team of over 50 experts, including 20 authors, 20 technical reviewers, and more than a dozen other production professionals. Each is an expert in his or her field, and the result is 720 pages of writing that will challenge users at any skill level. A quick glance at the names and companies that helped make this book a reality will reveal the sheer magnitude of talent that went into its writing. At the beginning of the book is a foreword by Tom Hudson, the father of 3ds Max. There, Tom talks about the early days of 3D Studio and how his humble code became the incredible program that it is today.
T-Splines: Wonderful Time Saving Addition to Rhino
Rating:
Reviewer: Joseph Druhot

Review: “Saves time, very inexpensive, I can't imagine not being able to use T-Splines to complete certain custom designs. I have been working for Whiteflash.com as their Custom CAD Artist for about 2 years. Before that, I worked for another company with a custom design department for about 2 years, so I have become quite familiar with CAD, Custom Design and especially Rhino 3D. There is a lot that you can do with Rhino, however fairly often; I have found myself wishing that making complex, purely organic shapes without using Boolean was possible with Rhino. Well, with T-Splines it is. T-Splines makes it possible to make very complex organic shapes, that can be modified in isolated areas making jewelry design easier and more time efficient, and if I may say, more exciting. There are some objects that would either be impossible, or so time consuming to make with Rhino, that it would not be worth it without the aid of T-Splines. I am extremely happy with T-Splines and I give it a very confident 5 stars!”
Interview with Alex Antich, TechJewel CEO
Selected post from Novedge blog
Rhino is a very flexible application and is gradually penetrating different professional areas, from industrial design, to architecture, and jewelry design. Each specific area can greatly benefit from Rhino's features but requires specific commands and libraries that are usually not provided by Robert McNeel and Associates. What McNeel provides is a powerful software platform on top of which third parties such as TechJewel, can build vertical plug-ins. One of the most successful plug-ins is RhinoJewel, formerly known as TechGems. This is a product that has evolved over the years to provide a complete set of commands, templates and features to jewelry designers. I interviewed the founder and CEO of the company, Alex Antich, to find out more about the very interesting world of Rhino plug-ins.

Dynamite SIM is an optional add-on module for Dynamite VSP allowing the import of traffic data from third party applications. Dynamite SIM offers the best of three worlds by allowing real time traffic simulation data to be imported into a 3ds max based visualization and combined with accurate 3D terrain data from a range of civil design applications.
PartBrowser is a desktop search engine for CAD. Search your CAD files by shape and by text, find any part with our unique visual browser. Save time by finding files faster. Save money by re-using parts. With PartBrowser, you increase part reuse, save designer's time, remove duplicate parts, and shorten time to market.
PartBrowser with DuplicateFinder is a simple solution to the problem of finding your CAD files on your computer. You need only to tell PartBrowser with DuplicateFinder where your CAD files are, either in local directories or network drives, and you're ready to search. Once found, files can then be opened in the appropriate CAD system.
