Campell, CA - February 24, 2005 – After a discussion with Dr. Cristiano Sacchi, CEO of Novedge, LLC the owner and operator of the www.novedge.com online CAD store, David Heller, President of Internet Business Systems, Inc. (IBSystems) and parent company of its www.CADalog.com CAD e-store herewith formally apologizes to Novedge in response to its allegation of copyright infringement.
Both companies represent and sell for the same software vendor, and the issue at hand was the alleged use of copyrighted images of that vendor’s product boxes from the Novedge web site used in an email promotion sent by CADalog.com to its subscribers yesterday.
Dr. Sacchi was quick to notify Mr. Heller of this potential infringement by email. Upon receipt of this notification the images in question were immediately removed from the mailing to limit any further damage to Novedge, and then Mr. Heller contacted Dr. Sacchi by phone.
During discussions with Mr. Heller, Dr. Sacchi said that, “We take our intellectual property very seriously and are very distressed that a competing web site (CADalog.com) used copyrighted material from our site to promote a product in competition with us.”
Mr. Heller said, “As president of IBSystems, CADalog.com’s parent company, I take full responsibility for this situation and have agreed to issue this press release because I realize how important protection of intellectual property is to companies like ours. We’ve been in business for more than ten years and this is the first error in judgment of this nature that’s slipped past me, and it won’t happen again.”
Both parties agreed that by issuing this press release Novedge, LLC considers its interests satisfied regarding this matter and will not seek a further legal remedy.
