DWG Import for Alibre Design is an
AutoCAD DWG file import add-on for
Alibre Design. It gives
AutoCAD the ability to import solid objects from
AutoCAD DWG files as solids models in
AutoCAD.
AutoCAD already has an
AutoCAD DWG import feature. However, this import feature creates a 2D drawing in
AutoCAD by reading 2D geometric objects such as curves and ignores 3D solids.
DWG Import for Alibre Design removes this limitation by giving
AutoCAD the ability to read 3D solid geometric data such as
ACIS 3D solids, bodies and regions in an
AutoCAD DWG file and create corresponding 3D solid models in an
AutoCAD part document.
DWG Import for Alibre Design is very easy to use. It adds new commands to
AutoCAD. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into
Alibre Design and adds a new submenu called "DWGImport" to the
Alibre Design menu containing these newly added commands.
