Maya 2012

I've had the opportunity to use several different packages and I have to say that Maya ranks pretty low if not last. It's slow, especially 2011. The 2011 UI may look new, but Autodesk did nothing to address the fundamental flaws. The UI is inconsistent and terribly clunky. If you have RSI, I would definitely advise avoiding Maya. The WORST thing about it is how unstable it is. Maya crashes on me an average of 20 or 30 times a day. It'll go wonky just sitting there. For instance, I'll go to lunch and come back and it will have hung. Internally, it's a total mess. It feels like they just took a bunch of disparate apps and mashed them together. It's "node-based" but half of the nodes that it creates are hidden and you can't even access unless you know how to script. This would be OK if it managed them well, but it doesn't. It looses track of them, which is probably one of the main reasons that it leaks memory so badly and is so unstable. Maya really should be retired in favor of other more modern packages. There are plenty of other systems out there FAR better.

It is so hard to understand the viewpor in Maya!
I still think 3D studio max it the best 3D program for making any 3D object.
This program so hard to use it.
