AutoCAD does not have a command to convert a 3D solid into a polyface mesh. This kind of functionality is essential when an AutoCAD user needs to transfer his 3D solid models to an external program which can read mesh objects only, such as a rendering application. Solid to Mesh for AutoCAD removed this AutoCAD limitation by giving it the ability to convert a 3D solid into a polyface mesh. This mesh can later be saves to an AutoCAD DWG or DXF file and imported into another application.
